Are you new to buying real estate? Confused about the process? Here are "9 Steps" to help you understand and navigate the process. It is a fun and exciting time and should be a fun a memorable experience. Too often though people find themselves confused about the process and are either afraid to ask for help or are worried about being pestered by an agent. Remember, you are always in control and you are the boss! Most importantly have a great time!
Find a lender. Your agent may even have suggestions or lenders he/she may have knowledge of.
Once you have a lender get pre-approved. Pre-approved is different than pre-qualified. Pre-approve means you have already gone through the underwriting process and the lender will let you know how much is in budget.
Figure what needs your family have and what kind of home will meet those needs. Newly married, may need to expand? Already have children but now looking at schools? All factors are unique to each family. Don't stress too much....you'll know it's right when you see it.
Identify about 3 to 5 neighborhoods that will accommodate your needs and is in your price range. This is where you'll be very glad you did step 2.
Call me. You could me during any step but if you haven't yet now would be the time to fill me in.
Now we look at homes. Your agent should have the most up to date listings and properties available. Already identifying your needs and the neighborhoods you desire make this time very fun. Go get out there!
Once we find a property we submit a great offer.
The rest is the home inspection and the final touches. Off to closing! Having the other steps already done makes the process go that much easier.
